Monsanto has utilised gene technology to develop canola plants that help farmers make their land as productive as possible.
Roundup Ready® canola used with Roundup Ready® Herbicide with PLANTSHIELD® and Roundup Ready® PL Herbicide with PLANTSHIELD® Technology offers growers effective broad spectrum weed control. Better weed control means cleaner fields and more productive crops.
Between 2013 and 2017 Roundup Ready canola hectares grew from 228,000 to 486,000 hectares. Since 2008, the average yield gain from Roundup Ready canola in Australia has been 11 per cent, resulting in an additional 226,000 tonnes of canola being produced.
TruFlex® canola with Roundup Ready® Technology is not commercially available but current plans are to commercialise for the 2019 growing season.
